What I do in the gym should directly improve how I move through the world.

Almost 40 — and this is where I’m at.
There have been a few versions of this along the way.

Until recently, my training was indirect — strength for the sake of strength, progress for the sake of progress. I was chasing numbers in the gym that didn’t truly connect to the rest of my life.

Now my approach is direct. I train to maintain my personal standards of strength and mobility — the kind that actually shows up when I’m playing pickleball, hiking, backpacking, climbing, skiing, surfing, or mountain biking. Throughout the year, I use different practices and movements to sustain that capacity.

More than anything, I want to share what I’ve learned — through my own training and through coaching others — to help people use fitness as a way to directly improve their life.
If this message resonates with you, I’d love to connect and share what I’ve learned
